For decades, I have dedicated my life to the Democratic Party, its focus on equity, inclusion and fighting for the working class. As many of you know, my loyalty to the Democratic Party is unbreakable. I believe I have proven that over my years of service.
I hope to earn your support, which is why I want to tell you what I have done for this Party and what my vision is for the Ohio Democratic Party should I become Chair.
I have been to every county in Ohio multiple times, working with many of you, to organize and reorganize our county Democratic Parties - from bylaw review to supporting your party elections. This is why I know we need an 88-county strategy that supports county parties to talk to their voters, which is our backbone and our path to winning Ohio again.
I will empower local leaders to hire local talent within their community and work to keep that talent in Ohio. For too long, we have outsourced employment opportunities and exported our best in-state campaign staffers. I will implement a coordinated campaign that works for both the top of the ticket and below. For too long, we have had a structure that focuses on the top of the ticket with the hopes that everyone else comes along for the ride. I will focus more strategically on races we can truly win: in the state legislature, at the county and city levels, and more. This won't be a one-cycle turnaround. It requires making smart, strategic, incremental decisions based on a multi-cycle plan.
I will always lead with an eye towards diversity - in representation, in staff hiring, in candidate recruitment. From Cleveland to Cincinnati, from Appalachia to the industrial and agricultural northwest, there are folks from many different walks of life who know their communities, know the people that live in these communities, and can help advocate for us. For too long, we have given these folks brand new field organizers from somewhere else, who show up for six months of a campaign and then disappear. This is the antithesis of long-term, relational organizing.
I have been the Executive Director of the Ohio Democratic Party and run campaigns across the state for over 30 years. Through this, I have raised millions of dollars for candidates, campaigns, conventions, and committees. I have always been a fighter. And I am willing to hold Republicans accountable for their harm to Ohioans in every corner of the state. You might remember “Issue 1 is Bullshit! I am from a proud union household and will always be a fighter for our unions and our working-class folks.
I have talked to many of you over the last couple of days, and I hope to connect with every member of the committee to talk more about my vision and earn your support.

ABOUT BILL
Bill DeMora has dedicated most of his life to the Ohio Democratic Party. His passion for public service began at a young age growing up in Euclid, Ohio. From a strong union household, Bill watched his father serve the people of his hometown as a City Councilmember. He took his passion for public service and civic engagement with him to The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) where he served as President of the Ohio State College Democrats and the Ohio College Democrats.

For over 30 years, Bill has spent his career crisscrossing Ohio, visiting every county in the state multiple times. He previously served as the Executive Director of the Ohio Democratic Party and the Ohio League of Conservation Voters. Bill has managed numerous campaigns across the state from municipal races to legislative, statewide, and national races.

Bill’s commitment to the Ohio Democratic Party is unwavering. He has served as the Ohio Democratic Party’s Convention and Delegate Director, where he has directed the Democratic National Convention’s Ohio delegation for the past eight Conventions.
Currently, Bill is the State Senator for the 25th District and remains a Senior Consultant and Parliamentarian for the Ohio Democratic Party.

Bill has been to every one of Ohio’s 88 counties—not just once, but many times. He’s listened to county leaders, helped reorganize local parties, and worked alongside volunteers who are the lifeblood of our movement. His plan isn’t about flashy rollouts or short-term cycles. It’s about an 88-county strategy that equips every local party with the tools, training, and talent they need to win—from city council to Congress. We can’t just show up for a cycle—we must build for the long haul.

Ohio Democrats have no shortage of passion or potential—we’ve just been outsourcing too much of it. We need to hire local, develop local, and keep our best campaign talent in-state. That means investing in the people who know their communities—not flying in organizers who leave when the race is over.
We need to build real infrastructure that works for all levels of the ballot—not just the top. Bill believes in a coordinated campaign that lifts up legislative, judicial, county, and municipal candidates—because all politics is local, and every seat we win helps us build a deeper bench and move our state forward.
